Mission Accomplished Day.
May 1, 2003:

President Bush declares Mission Accomplished on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln.

here's the running commentary from Free Republic on that day.

Suck it, liberals.

The thing I find most interesting about this is that the White House is now saying that the banner was in reference to the mission of the carrier he was on... not of the war in general. However, the entire tone of the speech accompanying the banner was of a war ended. They have yet to explain that part, at least as far as I've seen.

They've been saying that for years, since it became apparent that May 2003 was not the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning.
